I’m not going to say what I think about this week’s student “occupations” against Israel’s actions in Gaza, but I can’t resist dragging up this remark from a protester at the University of Sussex, quoted in The Guardian:

“The action has brought together socialists, Islamists and even students from the green movement who realise the detrimental effects of war on the environment,” says Gwen Wilkinson, a first-year psychology student from Newport.

What a wonderful epigram for this movement. Their motto could be: My enemy’s enemy is my friend — it’s simpler that way.
