New to The Archive: David Howarth Q&A

Posted by Sam Dub on November 16th, 2007

David Howarth’s address to Clare Politics provoked an entertaining and animated Q&A session covering the future leadership of the Liberal Democrats and the perennial issue of electability.

As a brief preamble to the first question David characterized the Conservative Party as broadly a party of manoeuvre rather than ideological substance, and the Lib Dem party as by nature the inverse. Our first question suggests these classifications can be applied to the candidates for the Lib Dem leadership, Chris Huhne (the ideologue) and Nick Clegg (the manoeuvrer).

  2. It’s a shame that David’s main address cannot be uploaded but his position in the room evaded our camera and it’s a good opportunity for us to put up an example of a typically excellent Q and A session.
